The Sensex is trading at 16, 590, down 129 points, and the Nifty is lower by 38 points at 4,931.
Infosys has shed 4% at Rs 2,270, Hindalco has slipped 3.9% to Rs 128 and Sterlite is down 2.5% at Rs 749.
On the other hand, NTPC has gained 2.1% at Rs 213, Bharti Airtel has added 2.1% to Rs 422 and HDFC Bank is up 1.8% to Rs 1599.
The market breadth is negative. There were 738 declines on the NSE as against 497 advancing stocks
