Markets trading in the red

The Sensex opened at the day's high of 17,062, hit a low of 16,898 and is currently quoting at 16,959, down 182 points. The Nifty opened at the day's high of 5076, hit a low of 5011 and is currently trading at 5029, down 54  points.

The leading Sensex gainers are ITC, up 1% at Rs 235, Hero Honda, higher by 0.6% at Rs 1,644 and HDFC, up 0.4% at Rs 2710. The other gainers are Hero Honda and Sun Pharma.

The top losers on the Sensex are Grasim (shed 5.1% at Rs 2,562), DLF ( weaker by 2.5% at Rs 429) and SBI (lower by 2.2% at Rs 2,159). Hindalco, Tata Motors and Bharti have lost upto 2% each.

The leading Nifty gainers are Ambuja Cement (stronger by 1.9% at Rs 104), Hero Honda (up by 1.3% at Rs 1,656), ITC  (up 1.3% at Rs 235) and Wipro (up 1% at Rs 614). TCS, Ranbaxy and BPCL have gained up to 1% each.

The top Nifty losers are Grasim (shed 4.1% at Rs 2,579), DLF (2.4% at Rs 429) and Idea (2.4% at Rs 72). Unitech, Hindalco, SBI and Suzlon have lost between 2% and 3% each.
