Markfed to increase its cattlefeed production capacity

The Punjab State Cooperative Supply & Marketing Federation (Markfed),has decided to increase its cattle feed production by 50 per cent by enhancing the capacity its two cattle feed plants at Kapurthala and Gidderbaha from existing 100 tonnes per day to 150 tonnes per day.
According to an official spokesman decision to enhance capacity of the plants has been taken to meet the increasing order book and demand of cattle feed amongst the dairy farmers of the country for certified quality feed. He said that Markfed has also decided to introduce latest state of art computerised batch making system in cattle feed production to maintain consistency in the quality of this product.
The spokesman said that to increase the product mix beside type-II Compounded Cattle feed, Markfed has now introduced high energy feed and protein rich mash, mineral mixture and liquid calcium as well. He added that Gidderbaha plant had achieved 27205 MT annual production against the budgeted target of 25000 MT that was 109 per cent of its capacity utilisation. The plant has also earned profit of Rs. 160.8 lakh against the budgeted target of Rs. 75.00 lakh.
Accordingly for the current year i.e. 2009-10, the target of Gidderbaha plant have been fixed at 42000 MT with budgeted profit of Rs.160 lakh.
Similarly Kapurthala Cattlefeed plant has achieved 33804 MT actual production against the budgeted target of 30000 MT that was 112 per cent of its capacity utilisation. He said that the plant has also earned profit of Rs 162.70 lakh against the budgeted target of Rs 80.10 lakh.
Accordingly for the current year i.e. 2009-10, the targets of Kapurthala plant have been fixed at 46900 MT with budgeted profit of Rs 162.95 lakh.
