Metal, realty stocks rally; Sensex up 46pts

SensexMetal and realty stocks are the out-performers today.

The BSE Metal index has surged over 3% to 5,122.

 
Heavyweights - Sterlite has surged 4% to Rs 304. Tata Steel has rallied 3.5% to Rs 175, and Hindalco has advanced over 3% to Rs 44.

Other prominent gainers - Welspun Guj has soared 8.5% to Rs 62. Jai Corp has surged 7.6% to Rs 82. Jindal Steel and Gujarat NRE Coke have moved up nearly 5% each to Rs 1,137 and Rs 19, respectively. Ispat Industries has added 4.5% to Rs 10. JSW Steel, Hindustan Zinc, Sesa Goa and NMDC have also posted smart gains.

The BSE Realty index has surged 2.3% to 1,518.

Frontliner - DLF has moved up 1.8% to Rs 165.

Unitech and Akruti City have surged over 5% each to Rs 28 and Rs 1,475, respectively. Phoenix Mills, HDIL and Orbit Corporation have rallied around 3% each to 55, Rs 74 and Rs 47, respectively. Parsvnath and Ansal Infrastructure have gained 2.3% each at Rs 35 and Rs 25, respectively.

Meanwhile the Sensex after touching a high of 9,024, has pared some gains and is now up 46 points at 8,990.

Reliance Communications has surged nearly 4% to Rs 163. ICICI Bank has advanced nearly 3% to Rs 332. Tata Power, NTPC, Ranbaxy and Maruti are the other major gainers.

On the other hand, TCS has dropped 2.3% to Rs 508. Infosys, Hindustan Unilever and Tata Motors are the other major losers.
