| Metro's new broad gauge train rolls out |

Delhi Metro today rolled out its new fleet of broad gauge trains, which are more faster and swankier than the present ones.
The trains procured from German-based Bombardier were inducted into service by DMRC chief E Sreedharan at the Central Secretariat station. The new trains promise to make the journey more comfortable for the commuters.
The first train will run on the Central Secretariat- Jehangirpuri underground line. After inducting the train into service, Sreedharan also took a ride on the train.
The acquisition of the tain is part of Rs 2,984 crore deal with Bombardier under which DMRC will procure 83 broad gauge trains by 2011.
Some of the facilities of the new trains are a high capacity air-conditioning system, heat and humidity control system, sockets for charging mobile phones and laptops and CCTVs to keep a watch on passengers' misconduct.
The first train hit the tracks today after the Commissioner of Railway Safety gave the nod for starting the services.
The maximum operational speed of the new trains will be 85 km per hour while the existing ones can increase the speed up to 80 km per hour.
The new high capacity air-conditioning system can maintain a temperature of 25 degree Celsius inside the train when fully loaded at a time when the outside temperature is 44 degree Celsius.
The trains will also have heating and humidity control systems which is non-existent in the existing trains.
The trains running towards Anand Vihar and Noida from Dwarka will have external side display on each coach indicating the destination station.
A digital route map has also be installed near the doors of all the coaches to indicate the approaching stations besides the audio warning system.
With increasing incidents of passengers ringing the alarm bells unnecessarily being reported, four CCTVs have been installed in every coach to find out those involved in such acts.
For the benefit of drivers, two rear view cameras have been installed on both the sides of the train to enable them to monitor opening and closing of the door to ensure no passenger is stuck.
There will be facility for remote downloading of data of trains in the Control Room for properly guiding the drivers to safety.
The new trains will also have reduced noise level compared to the existing ones and to avoid tripping caused due to kite flying an insulation mat will be installed on the roof of the trains.
