| MMRDA to invest Rs 4,700 cr to develop four water projects |

Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) today said it plans to develop four water projects at an investment of Rs 4,700 crore.
Besides, the nodal development agency would set up a National Research and Training Institute to improve expertise in transportation, for which the Maharashtra government has given its go-ahead, a release said here.
The decisions were taken at an MMRDA meeting held here under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Ashok Chavan, the release said.
Once completed, the four projects would generate 3,000 million litres of water per day.
The construction and water supply from Shai and Poshir Dam would come at an investment of Rs 1,286 crore and Rs 964 crore, respectively, the release said, adding the construction and water supply from Kalu Dam would have an investment of Rs 1,438 crore.
The water distribution from Surya dam would require Rs 1,041 crore, it said.
The projects would be implemented in association with the Konkan Irrigation Development Corporation.
