The Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) today promised it would ensure 100 per cent jobs in local industries to Marathi people.
“We will ensure 100 per cent jobs to sons of soil,” Raj said, releasing his party's manifesto for the October 13 Assembly elections, at his central Mumbai residence.
The manifesto, called ‘vachaknama’, also speaks of strictly implementing existing norms to deport those staying illegally in the state and action against illegal constructions.
“Those coming from outside and staying here illegally should get a message that they are not welcome here,” he said.
Of the 288 seats in the state Assembly, MNS has fielded 143 candidates. The MNS manifesto also promises to make teaching of Marathi mandatory in all schools — irrespective of medium of instruction — up to class 10th.
In another unique promise-cum-demand, the manifesto says that “every computer in the state must have Unicode installed”, to make it Marathi-compatible.
In the higher education and professional courses, Maharashtrian students must “get priority”, the manifesto says.
Saying that Interstate River Water Disputes Tribunal has served a raw deal to the state while allocating waters of major rivers in the state, the MNS manifesto says that Maharashtra must get its due share.
