CM Babulal Gaur on a trip to Britain and US to lobby for investments

In an effort to woo overseas investors Madhya Pradesh chief minister Babulal Gaur and his 10-member core team kicked off a tour of United Kingdom and US on Monday. The mission is to augment greater foreign investment to the state.
The team includes commerce and industry minister, Kailash Chawla, six bureaucrats, chief secretary Vijay Singh, principal secretaries Vishwapati Trivedi, O P Rawat, Raghav Chandra, J N Kansotiya and Alka Upadhyay.
The delegation wil sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Caparo Group for setting up a toolroom for the Indore auto-cluster at the Special Economic Zone (SEZ), would be followed by a lunch hosted by Lord Swraj Paul. The Caparo group has expressed interest in scaling up production for its existing plant in MP.
The same evening, the CM and his team will fly to Chicago and attend a dinner hosted by the FICCI at Hotel Hilton. The Focus India Exhibition & Conference in Chicago would showcase the state's potential at global level, the investment strengths of the state. The state government has put up a 500 sq meter stall to showcase its rich resources - in terms of minerals, forest, herbal, cultural and its advantage over other Indian states. "The state government has paid Rs 17 lakh to the FICCI for the space in exhibition," said an official.
Of the total cost of the trip, estimated at Rs 65 lakh, the Union government would pay Rs 22 lakh to MP under Market Access Initiative (MAI). Having planned to draw maximum advantage out of Focus India, the players in CM's team would go for networking and one-to-one business meetings in Chicago.
Gaur has also included representatives from industry . GEI Hammon, Sonic Biochem, Hotline, Haylid Chemicals, J P Cement and CII-Bhopal chapter chairman, Vipin Mullick (Inspra) - who all would join the CM in Chicago.
