Multiplexes halt MNIK screening after VHP, Bajrang Dal protest

Ahmedabad, Feb 12 (PTI) Many multipexes in the city today decided not to screen the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer 'My Name Is Khan' after VHP and Bajrang dal activists staged protest and burned posters of the movie.
"Multiplexes have decided not to screen the film for the first couple of shows which have been cancelled. But if the situation improves they will be screening the film later," Multiplexes Owners' Association (MOA) President Ashok Purohit told PTI.
Activists from VHP and Bajrang Dal protested at various cinema theaters planning to screen MNIK, after which all the theaters decided not to screen the film.
Activists from both the outfits, trying to disrupt the screening of the film, are being detained from different locations, police said.
VHP's diktat in Gujarat comes after Sena's ire on Shah Rukh Khan over his remarks on Pakistani players.
