Mundra Port signs pact with Port of Antwerp

Adani Group’s Mundra Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (MPSEZL) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Port of Antwerp, the gateway to Europe.
 
Speaking to Business Standard, a Mundra port official said the Port of Antwerp is the busiest port and the MoU between the two ports would focus on an extensive range of subjects, including port management, promotion and exchange of port related education methodologies including training, workshops & seminars, encouraging technical exchange and assistance programmes, trade and business opportunities between both the ports and the countries.
 
The agreement is aimed at promoting Gujarat as an international business destination, supporting excellent maritime infrastructure required for carrying out international trade with rest of the world.
 
The company official said to achieve the tangibles as agreed by both the ports, extra efforts would be made to augment mutual understanding between the ports and promote personal and trade contacts.
 
Mutual assistance to promote port Infrastructure, trading opportunities and commercial investment from one country to other would also be addressed through the agreement.
 
Technical and commercial information related to trade and logistics would be exchanged, including the exchange of information and data on best global practices for port operations and management. Education and cultural exchange programmes would also be given priority.
 
The MoU was signed by Eddy Bruyninckx, CEO, Antwerp Port Authority (APA), Belgium, and Sandeep Mehta, CEO, MPSEZL.
 
Speaking on the occasion, Eddy Bruynincky expressed his wish to promote close cooperation between both the ports. Herman Merckx, consul general of Belgium, said that the sealing of the MoU would benefit both the governments and Gujarat.
