State-run, aluminium maker Nalco CMD C R Pradhan today said that the company has delayed commissioning its 2.1-million-tonne alumina (a chemical containing aluminium) production line in Orissa due to Maoist insurgency.
The company has expanded the annual production capacity of alumina at its mines in Orissa to 2.1 million tonnes from 1.57 million tonnes previously and were to commission the expanded line three-four months back.
"In alumina, we have not started production at the 2.1 million tonne expanded capacity. We have delayed it because of various problems. Maoists are going there everyday," Pradhan said.
Asked when the company is expected is to commission the augmented capacity, he said, "We cannot say anything."
