Nasscom pegs 11-14% growth in infotech, ITeS exports in FY13
Press Trust of India / Mumbai Feb 14, 2012, 11:29 IST

Export revenues from the infotech and IT-enabled services sector are expected to grow between 11 and 14% in US dollar terms, while the domestic market is expected to grow by 13-16% in rupee terms, industry body Nasscom said here today.

"For FY13, software and services growth has been forecast between 11-14% in US dollar terms, while a revenue growth of $8-10 billion is expected.

"In the domestic market, FY13 software and services growth has been forecast between 13-16%, while revenue growth is expected between Rs 11,000 and 14,000 crore," National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom) chairman Rajendra Pawar said while announcing the 20th edition of Nasscom's flagship event, the Nasscom Leadership Forum beginning here tomorrow.

He also said spending on e-governance projects by various states as well as small and medium enterprises are expected to be significant growth drivers in the years to come.

Pawar said direct employment in the infotech sector is expected to grow by over nine percent to reach 2.8 million, with over 230,000 jobs being added in FY12.

The sector faces a challenging short-term scenario, he said, due to delayed decision making impacting refresh cycles and projects.

"Volume growth is higher, but is not reflected in revenue. There are other challenges like the rupee depreciation impact and pricing pressure, as well as increased offshore component," he said.

However, an improved mid-term scenario is likely to see technology spending going up driven by new technologies, emerging markets as well as newer business models, he added.

The Nasscom Leadership Forum has 'Hyper-specialisation' as the core theme this year, and the platform promises to bring another exciting, thought provoking and insightful conference that will present a wide array of viewpoints and perspectives from leaders across the globe on different global issues.

"The Forum in its 20 years has mirrored the evolution and growth of the IT-BPO industry in India. At the Forum, the structured agenda and keynotes will create the perfect platform for industry leaders to strategise on opportunities ahead and addressing current uncertainties," Pawar said.

The Forum would have over 45 sessions with over 120 speakers, over 1,600 delegates, and close to 25 countries participating this time.

"Building alliances in key markets is a focus area for the industry. This year at the Forum, we have 25 countries participating and focused sessions around Japan, China, Germany and emerging markets will discuss the theme of partnerships and global growth," Nasscom president Som Mittal said.
