| 'Nearly 4,000 houses in Delhi ready for poor' |

Nearly 4,000 houses are ready for allotment to economically weaker sections (EWS) here of the total 37,936 units proposed under the Rajiv Awas Yojna scheme, the Lok Sabha was informed today.
"Overall, six projects including five by the Delhi State Industrial Infrastructural Development Corporation (DSIIDC) and one by DDA are being implemented by the Delhi government," Minister of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Kumari Selja said in a written reply.
Giving details of construction status of the projects, she added that 3,868 dwelling units for urban poor are ready for handover at Bawana, while housing projects at Jonapur and Nangli Sakarwati in Najafgarh are awaiting environmental clearance.
The minister said that as per information, the state government has dropped its slum relocation project at Deramandi in the absence of NoC from the environment department.
DDA has invited tenders for construction of 4,740 units under slum relocation project at Narela near Siraspur village while land is being acquired for Poothkurd project where 13,392 houses are proposed to be constructed, the Minister added.
The total project cost is estimated at Rs 8,886 crore with the Central government doling out the maximum share.
