Kolkata Port Trust (KoPT) reached a new record in handling highest parcel load of vessel at Saugor with 'Megas Alexandors' arriving from Canada last Saturday.
The vessel carried 37,400 ton of pulses, surpassing previous record of 31,000 ton.
A K Chanda, chairman, KoPT said, "The unloading operation of pulses meant for north and north-eastern parts of the country is going on in full swing''.
Chanda explained that higher draft and multi-faceted user-friendly measures like better services, improved facilities, cost-effective and customer-friendly charges enabled the port to achieve this success.
