Nissan Motor India Pvt Ltd (NMIPL) has commenced exports on a trial basis to Europe from its Orgadam facility, near here. The first consignment of six cars left for Barcelona (Spain) through Ennore Port. The consignment would reach its destination in 22 days.
“Trial transportation for exports is a very important milestone for us as we gear up for exports to Europe from the second half of 2010. The domestic production of Micra will begin in May 2010 and we will soon start production for exports in July 2010,” said Kiminobu Tokuyama, managing director and chief executive officer of Nissan Motor India.
NMIPL will export to more than 100 countries in Europe, West Asia and Africa. Exports are expected to reach 110,000 units in 2011, growing up to 180,000 units in the future.
