A day after Congress party President Sonia Gandhi lectured her party MPs against large-scale absenteeism from Parliament, she herself was missing when Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was replying to the debate on the motion of thanks on the President’s Address. Opposition party MPs were quick to speculate that this was her way of snubbing the PM, for whatever reason. They were in for a disappointment when they realised that Gandhi was away in the North East on an official engagement.
