State owned- National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd (NTPC) posted 27 per cent increase in the net profit to Rs 2,193.60 crore during the quarter ended June 30, 2009 as compared to Rs 1,726.53 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.

Total Income increased by 24 per cent from Rs 10,256.7 crore during the quarter ended June 30, 2008 to Rs 12,778.96 crore during the quarter ended 2009.

Shares of NTPC closed at Rs 214.45, up 1.71 per cent on the Bombay Stock Exchange.
