| NTPC to generate 6,000 Mw in south by 2010-11 |

Public sector power utility NTPC, southern region, is planning to generate additional 6,000 Mw of power by 2011 and has recorded the highest-ever generation of 32,067.76 Mw during the last fiscal.
Ambarish N Dave, regional executive director (south), told reporters here today that the company, which is producing 3,950 Mw in its plants at Ramagundam, Simhadri in Andhra Pradesh, Orissa and Kerala, plans to generate additional 6,000 Mw by 2010-11.
The company has surpassed the target for generating 27,775 Mw of power during the last fiscal.
He was speaking to reporters after reviewing the performance of NTPC southern region.
Dave said NTPC has signed an MoU for setting up a 4,000 Mw mega power project at Kudgi in Bijapur district of Karnataka.
It has also an MoU to set up a 500 Mw capacity windpower project in Karnataka, he added.
