NTPC to recruit 1,000 fresh professionals in FY10
Press Trust of India / New Delhi Apr 08, 2009, 18:20 IST

Contrary to global trends, state-run National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) is on a hiring spree as it is recruiting 1,000 fresh professionals in the current fiscal against 735 in 2008-09.

"We plan to hire 1,000 freshers during 2009-10. We hired 735 fresh engineering graduates, including 460 through campus recruitments in the previous financial year," NTPC Chairman and Managing Director R S Sharma told reporters here.

He said, "The attrition rate of the executives during 2008-09 was 1.77 per cent as compared to 3.1 per cent in 2007-08."

The total employee strength as on March 31, 2009, is 24,698 as against 24,547 on the same day last year. This excludes employees in the company's joint ventures and subsidiaries.
