Starting March 26, artist Gurdeep Singh’s works are on display at the Visual Arts Gallery, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. The show, Un Betoken continues at Gallerie Nvya from April 4-30. This collection of abstracts is a symphony of brush-stroke, colour and formlessness. There is a playful use of colour in the compositions. One of the highlights is the interplay between a musician and his instrument.
An exhibition of paintings by Neelkant Choudhary, an artist who remains loyal to the traditional Madhubani templates, while innovating with icons and figures, is on at Gallerie Ganesha in the capital, from March 20-April 20. Choudhary, from Bihar, belongs to the Madhubani school but has a strong individualist style.
At Shridharani Gallery, Triveni Kala Sangam in New Delhi, a show titled With the Best Intentions by Anant Art finds display. Starting March 31, this is is a collection of works by a range of artists such as Alok Bal, Amritah Sen, Arunanshu Chowdhury, Dattatraya Apte, Farhad Hussain, Kishor Shinde and Rajesh Ram amongst others.
A show titled Face to Face by Bajaj Capital Art House is also on display from April 1-31. Hyderabad-based artists Fawad Tamakant and B. Srinivas Reddy exhibit their works in a show curated by Sushma Bahl. Tamkanat and sculptor Reddy portray the human face, in its varied moods, using a variety of mediums, styles and forms — with each work emerging a distinct creation. The artists use variable lines, markings and colours and also juxtapose folk and tribal forms with their contemporary experiences to give us some fascinating work.
