A division bench of the Calcutta High Court refused to pass any order against the order passed by a single judge which had directed the Jute Commissioner of India (JCI) to continue with the system of giving orders for manufacturing gunny bags (Jute) which had been prevailing in May 2005.
The single judge had also restrained the JCI from introducing new set of parameters for manufacturing jute gunny bags while disposing of the appeal filed by JCI.
The bench of Justice P C Ghosh and Justice N C Sil directed the single judge to hearout the case.
Agarpara Jute Mills and some other jute Mills filed the case challenging the authority of the JCI for setting new parameters.
