| On-line bookings highest with travellers from Mumbai airport |

When it comes to on-line booking of air-tickets, travellers from Mumbai take the lead with as many as 77 per cent opting for these facilities compared to travellers at six other leading international airports globally.
According to a survey conducted by air transport communication and IT solutions provider SITA across six international airports, more than 77 per cent travellers from Mumbai preferred to book their tickets on-line, the highest in the world and over 25 per cent took to web check-ins.
The survey was conducted on passengers flying on over 100 airlines and representing over 80 nationalities at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (Mumbai), Sao Paulo Guarulhos Airport (Brazil), Hartsfield-Jackson Airport (Atlanta), Charles de Gaulle (Paris), Domodedovo (Moscow) and OR Tambo Airport, (Johannesburg).
The actual usage rate (of on-line booking) at Mumbai was 65.9 per cent compared to 61.7 per cent of last year, whereas the global average is 63.7 per cent, the findings revealed.
Mumbai stood second at 25.6 per cent in using web check-ins after world's busiest Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in Atlanta, where the usage was as high as 32.2 per cent.
Overall, preference for self-service check-in continues to grow at Mumbai, which is up from 60 per cent last year to 68.9 per cent this year against a global average of 62.9 per cent across the six airports surveyed.
The survey also found that passengers are spending more on ancillary services such as hotels and hiring cars through airline websites and their numbers are expected to double.
In Mumbai alone, over 40 per cent passengers avail this service which is above the global 20 per cent average, the survey said.
