| Onam Handloom Expo 2010' in Kozhikode Aug 1 to 22 |

In view of the forthcoming Onam festival, a three week 'Onam Handloom Expo 2010' under the joint auspices of Union Textile Ministry and Kerala State Handloom Department, will be held here from August 1 to 22.
Speaking to mediapersons here today, B Sivaprasad, General Manager, Kozhikode district Industry Centre, said besdies the 30 Primary Handloom Cooperative Groups, Hantex znc Cooperative groups from other districts would participate in the expo.
There will be a special demonstration by Kannur Institute of Handloom Textile Technology during the expo, he said.
A 20 per cent rebate will be given for handloom products, he said, adding large collections of dhotis, saris, shirtings, lungi and floor mats will also be displayed at the expo.
Last year's expo about Rs 65 lakh sales was achieved and this year the target was set at Rs 1 crore, he said.
Kozhikode district Industry Centre and Kozhikode District Handloom Development Samithi, are also participating in the expo.
