State-run Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) is resuming operations in insurgency-hit Nagaland after a gap of 15 years and has opened a liaison office at Dimapur.
"The Liaison Office of ONGC has started functioning," a company press release said here.
ONGC suspended exploration and production in Nagaland in 1994.
"However, negotiations for resumption of the same are still continuing and a white paper on resumption of E&P activities was submitted to the government of Nagaland.
"Based on this, an MoU has also been submitted to the Nagaland government for consideration. To facilitate free flow of information and better coordination, it was mutually agreed that ONGC shall open a liaison office in the premises of Directorate of Geology and Mining (DGM), Dimapur," it said.
