The late P V Narasimha Rao’s grandson N V Subhas was in the capital late last month to have a memorial named after his grandfather, on the occasion of his 89th birth anniversary on June 28th. Given that it was Rao who catapulted Manmohan Singh to fame, Subhas expected the meeting to go well, more so since the capital is littered with memorial parks/roads /buildings anyway. Singh, however, did not meet Subhas. An appointment was cancelled at the last minute and the latter had to return empty-handed.Whether this had something to do with the Congress party chief’s dislike for Rao is not clear.
