Panel to screen 6th Pay Commission report
BS Reporter / New Delhi April 11, 2008
The centre today decided to set up an empowered committee to screen and process the recommendations of the sixth central pay commission that gave about 30 per cent hike to the government employees and yet left many sections, notably, the defence forces disgruntled.

This was decided at the meeting of the cabinet committee on economic affairs of the Union cabinet today. The empowered committee would be headed by the Union Cabinet Secretary.

Briefing on the decisions of the cabinet, Kapil Sibal, Minister for state for science and technology, said although no time frame had been proposed for the committee to submit its report to the union cabinet, it is expected that the committee would "do its job in the shortest possible time.’’

The committee would "mainly function as a screening committee for recommendations." an official release said.

A committee has already been set up to address the grievances and anomalies of the defence services. The Indian Police Service (IPS) has also raised some issues that the Cabinet Secretary is expected to consider. All these issues will be referred to the empowered committee.

Respected wise men of India A humble prayer: it is not know how a poor class 3 employee in the postal department can lead his family members with high rates for daily needs when inflation is ready to touch the sky at any time pl. It is not understood why the chairman central pay commission has forgotten his confirmed promise of counting of Reserved trained pool service from the date of entry as regular cadre as per supreme court and just like other promoted employees.Murali Vizag 9290016534
