PARI CRDi Diesel project in final stages
Our Regional Bureau / Pune January 31, 2006
Precision Automation and Robotics India (PARI) is nearing completion of the project for manufacturing CRDi Diesel engine for Suzuki Power Train Ltd in collaboration with FIAT.

“We have finished two-third of the Rs 25 crore project which will be completed by March. The first engine will be in the market by November,” said Mangesh Kale, managing director, PARI.

The company will be manufacturing three critical parts of the engine - cylinder block, crankshaft and cam shaft. This will be a completely integrated sub-assembly line with quality control inspections at every stage and automatic feedback for immediate corrective actions within the manufacturing process.

According to the global standards, auto manufacturers produce 240 engines per shift. Ranjit Date, joint managing director, PARI said, “This is one of the most modern sub-assembly lines in the world which can manufacture upto 16 different models of engines and deliver 240 engines per shift. The automation line delivers, one cylinder block in two minutes, one crank shaft in two minutes and one cam shaft in a minute.”

“This year exports accounted for 15 per cent of our revenues and this is expected to increase to 20 per cent next year. By 2010 exports will account for 50 per cent of our total revenues,” said Date.

On expansion plans in Pune Kale said,”We have already acquired 15 acres of land in Pune for first phase expansion. In the second phase, we have planned a 60 km integrated campus.”
