Eros International, which is into film distribution and production, has decided to streamline its operations from this year.
Kishore Lulla, Group chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) has handed over the post of CEO to Jyoti Deshpande, who was the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Commercial Director.
Lulla said he has taken the decision to split duties to support the growth of the company by giving new leadership the opportunity to drive and manage such growth. Having an independent Group CEO will help streamline operations further, he said.
He said as the Executive Chairman of the group, he will take responsibility for overall vision and group strategy and Jyoti Deshpande as Group CEO and Managing Director will be responsible for day-to-day management of the group and helping it achieve its strategic objectives.
"Our vision will be to build predictability, scalability and sustainability in the business model," he said.
He said 2009 was a good year especially in the context of the economic environment and the multiplex standoff which should have theoretically slowed down the business considerably.
"We had a good share of big releases like 'Kambakkth Ishq', 'Love Aaj Kal', 'Wanted', 'De Dana Dan'. We were able to conclude regular satellite syndication deals during the year and also tie up a strong slate for Fiscal 2010-11," he said.
Lulla said his "company's new leadership includes A P Parigi as CEO (India operations) and Ram Mirchandani as Chief Creative Officer to help propel the growth, all in all a very positive outlook."
