Piramal Healthcare net dips 13% at Rs 115 cr

 Piramal Healthcare today said it has reported a 13.49 per cent decline in consolidated net profit at Rs 114.90 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31. 

The pharma firm had a net profit of Rs 132.82 crore in the March quarter of FY'08, Piramal Healthcare said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.   

The firm's net sales rose 9.34 per cent at Rs 850.91 crore in the March quarter, from Rs 778.20 crore in the same period last fiscal.    

During the March quarter, the firm incurred a foreign exchange loss of Rs 16.90 crore, against a forex gain of Rs 10.33 crore in the year-ago period.   

The board has declared a dividend of 210 per cent for FY'09, at the rate of Rs 4.20 a piece, on shares of face value of Rs two.    

For the financial year ended March 31, Piramal Healthcare reported a net profit of Rs 316.25 crore, down 5.25 per cent over the year-ago period. The company had a net profit of Rs 333.78 crore in FY'08.    

The net sales for the fiscal year ended March 2009 rose to Rs 3,281.10 crore, from Rs 2,867.48 crore in FY'08.  

Shares of Piramal Healthcare were trading at Rs 214, up 3.13 per cent in the late afternoon trade on the BSE.
