| Protests against power cuts continue in national capital |

Protestors targeted a discom office in east Delhi while Delhi Finance Minister A K Walia had to face the ire of denizens in the wee hours today as a large number of people gathered near his house to protest against power cut in the area.
The protestors also blocked the busy Vikas Marg around 12:30 am and burnt tyres. Police used force to disperse the crowd.
Angry people targeted the office of BSES in Laxmi Nagar after some localities in the area went without power in the night. The protestors broke open the locks of the office.
The power cut in the locality was for about seven to eight hours last night.
A group of people proceeded to Walia's residence in Laxmi Nagar in the wee hours to register their protest. They surrounded the house of the minister, who later assured the protestors that he will look into matter.
Walia represents Laxmi Nagar locality.
Areas like Karol Bagh, Mukherjee Nagar, Lajpat Nagar, Hauz Khaz, Janakpuri, Mayur Vihar, Dwarka, Palam and Dishad Garden witnessed power cuts for two-to-eight hours last night.
The national capital has been witnessing protests against power cuts and water shortage for the past few days.
With most of the northern states overdrawing from the quota of power, officials claimed Delhi is also faced with the situation of under frequency, which is forcing the discoms to resort to load-shedding in various parts of the city.
