Putting style
Aabhas Sharma / New Delhi Dec 30, 2009, 00:12 IST

It is no surprise that golfer Shiv Kapur loves his cars. Apart from driving on the various ranges on the golf greens, Kapur’s love for cars has multiplied in the last couple of years — more so for BMW since he was appointed its brand ambassador. “I have always loved the BMW and am completely besotted with my 6-series.

“The BMW 6-series has everything one looks for in a car — luxury, style, prestige and, above all, great driving pleasure,” he says. Being a sportsperson, Kapur is a globetrotter, always on the move. He admits that he rarely gets the time to actually drive his car. “Though I am a sports car freak, I also love SUVs,” he adds. His garage includes a BMW 3-series, which, he says, is very special for him too. The BMW 6-series was gifted to him by the company and costs more than Rs 1 crore.

When it comes to clothes, Kapur says that he loves shopping for them. He rates Hugo Boss as one of his favourite brands. “I love their clothes but there are too many brands to choose a favourite.” But if he had to choose, he says, it would be a Hugo Boss T-shirt (starting at Rs 3,000) in which you will probably find him. Kapur says he is extremely conscious of the clothes he wears and prides himself on his good taste.

Kapur also loves to collect watches. An Audemars Piguet is the highlight of his collection. He says he bought it a couple of years ago. When he is travelling, he tries to pick up as many — and different types — of watches. “Over the years, I have collected a host of them,” he explains. But the Audemars Piguet watch remains his prized possession. At any given point of time, you can find more than a couple of watches in his travel bag. Kapur believes that since there aren’t many accessories that he can sport, he makes sure that his watches make a style statement.

For someone, who loves designer clothes, watches and luxury cars, it’s fair to say that Kapur lives life to the fullest. And he is is not apologetic about his lifestyle and points out that he works hard to have it that way. “My aim in life is to do well on the golf course every time I step on it,” he says. Not that he is into flaunting life’s luxuries. “But who doesn’t like the good things in life?” he asks. Now, that’s what we call a perfect putt...
