| Cotton farmers during the last few years had a different reason to complain — inadequate rainfall. This year though the produce was nearly 5.11 lakh quintals from 73,000 hectares, while last year cotton growers produced around three lakh quintals from 37,000 hectares. The area under cotton increased this year due to the bountiful rains.
