Highly placed officials said Raja's meeting with Mukherjee is likely to sort out the differences between the ministries over the 3G reserve price. The Department of Telecom has pegged it at Rs 2,020 crore while the finance ministry wants just double the amount.

The government wants to finalise the reserve price issue before the Budget on July 6 so that an expected revenue figure from the auction can be given in the Budget documents.

In interim Budget figures, the government wanted to mobilise Rs 30,000 crore from the auction which did not take place.

It is likely that the ministries would come to an understanding on the price issue, sources said. If there is a agreement in tomorrow's meeting, then the matter will reach the Cabinet next week and the process can start thereafter.

In the current scenario, the government is anticipating upwards of Rs 30,000 crore revenue, sources said.

Raja has already met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh last week to apprise him of the development on 3G spectrum auction.
