Om Mathur, the chief of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Rajasthan, has been camping in New Delhi for the past week. It is under his watch that the number of Lok Sabha MPs the party sends from the state has gone down from 21 to five. But he attributes this to former chief minister Vasundhara Raje and the way the wires in the party got crossed.

Mathur met party President Rajnath Singh for an hour. He later met Arun Jaitley to lobby his case, which simply put is this: In the Rajasthan BJP, power is somewhere else while responsibility lies somewhere else. There has to be a unified command if the party is to get back its lost glory. Still in shock, the BJP is saying nothing to him now.
