| Rajasthan to spend Rs 18,000 cr on new power projects |

The Rajasthan government would spend Rs 18,000 crore on eight new power projects during the current fiscal, in line with an action plan which aims at increasing state electricity generation capacity by 12,000 Mw in next five years, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said.
"Four power projects out of seven in the state would start generating power from this year. The state government during the current financial year would spend Rs 18,000 crore on eight new power generation projects of 3,050 Mw capacity," Gehlot said.
Chairing a high level review meeting of power sector in the state on Tuesday, Gehlot said the action plan to increase in power generation has been made under which 12,000 Mw unit would be increased during the next five years.
The seventh unit of 195 Mw in Kota would start functioning from July. The first unit of Chabra of 250 Mw power generation project would start from August and sixth unit of 250 Mw of Suratgarh power station and second unit of Chabra of 250 Mw would be commissioned from July and December, respectively.
