Reliance Big Entertainment Ltd, a Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group company, today said it would acquire 50 per cent stake in British developer and publisher of world-class video games Codemasters.
The company, however, did not disclose the amount it intends to pay for the stake buy. The remaining stake in Codemasters is with European venture capital firm Balderton Capital, which first invested in 2005.
Codemasters has revenues of over $150 million and holds major franchises in cricket and racing games, among others. Reliance Big’s gaming division, Zapak Digital Entertainment, will oversee the said investment in Codemasters.
Zapak is the country’s largest gaming company, with interests in online casual games, massively multiplayer online games (MMOG) publishing, chain of gaming cafes and physical distribution of gaming software.
