RGGVY work in 4 districts to be completed by September

The process of rural electrification under the Centre’s Rajeev Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY) in four districts of Orissa- Angul, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati, is set to be commissioned by the end of September this year.
Work on rural electrification under RGGVY in the remaining 26 districts is expected to be completed by August 2010. The commitment to expedite the process of rural electrification under RGGVY in Orissa was given by the chairman cum managing directors of three central PSUs (public sector undertakings) implementing the scheme. These three PSUs are National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), National Hydro Power Corporation (NHPC) and Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL).
The Orissa chief minister Naveen Patnaik held a meeting with the chairman cum managing directors of NTPC, NHPC and PGCIL in New Delhi on the status of implementation of RGGVY in Orissa. At the meeting, NTPC, NHPC and PGCIL assured to mobilise additional efforts to complete the process of rural electrification under RGGVY in 26 districts of Orissa.
