RIL yet to hear from govt on new customers for KG-D6 gas
Press Trust of India / New Delhi Nov 10, 2009, 15:35 IST

Reliance Industries today said gas output from KG-D6 field has increased around 45 mmscmd and it was awaiting government instruction on which new customers would get the additional gas.

"We are yet to hear from the government on making additional allocation to users," RIL head of oil and gas and executive director P M S Prasad told reporters here.

An Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM) had on October 27 allocated 50 mmscmd of KG-D6 production to new users mostly in power sector. This allocation was beyond the initial 40 mmscmd that was allocated to fertilisers, power, steel and LPG plants.

The minutes of the EGoM has, however, not been issued."All that we have heard is that the allocation made previously to power plant has been extended till November end," he said, adding, the company would ramp up output by 20 mmscmd the day govt nominates new buyers.

Of the initial 40 mmscmd, 18 mmscmd was allocated to power plant but due to inability of some users to lift the gas, temporary allocations were made. The temporary allocation was till September 2009, which was later extended to October 31, 2009, and now to November 30, 2009.
