RInfra bags Rs 1,725 cr road project

Anil Ambani group firm Reliance Infrastructure today said its consortium has bagged a project worth Rs 1,725 crore for building roads in Maharashtra from the National Highway Authority of India.

The company led consortium has received the Pune-Satara six laning road project in Maharashtra from National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), Reliance Infrastructure (RInfra) said in a statement.

"With eight road projects totalling to 655 km, RInfra will be investing more than Rs 6,500 crore for the road sector. We are confident of increasing our investments in road projects over Rs 20,000 crore by 2012," RInfra CEO and whole-time Director Lalit Jalan said.

The project would be build on design, build, finance, operate and transfer (toll) basis and is expected to be operational by July 2012, the release added.

"We will... Look for opportunities in ultra mega road projects that will be available across India," Jalan added.

RInfra's two road projects in Tamil Nadu worth Rs 760 crore are now commercially operational. The rest are at the various stages of development.

Shares of Reliance Infrastructure were trading at Rs 1,079.20 on the BSE, up 2.01 per cent from its previous close.
