Royal Enfield opens shop in Lucknow
Pallavi Bisaria / New Delhi/ Lucknow June 14, 2006
Royal Enfield has opened its first company showroom in Lucknow, on Faizabad road. The bikes are between Rs 65,704 and Rs 88, 836 at showroom cost.

Royal Enfield models include the Bullet 350cc, Electra, Machismo and Thunderbird. The 500cc Bullet is also available on order. This is the first company-owned showroom in Uttar Pradesh.

Prabhu Kumar, general manager (marketing), said, “We are happy to open the Royal Enfield brand store in this city. Our idea is to project distinct characteristics of the brand and thereby enable our customers to associate themselves and experience it.”

At the showroom, a bike lover can follow the highlights of the entire history of Royal Enfield, right from its inception in 1892 to the present day with emphasis on its existence in India. The Eicher group acquired Enfield India Limited in 1994 and changed it to Royal Enfield Ltd.

“UP is a big market for us and Lucknow has traditionally been a bike lover’s city. At our store, we have established a world-class ambience where customers can feel the product and would definitely like to buy it,” said Tarun Sharma, regional manager. Around 65,000 vehicles are sold every year in Lucknow.

The company has also planned a mountain adventure ride, Himalayan Odyssey, for bike lovers from 24th June to 7th July 2006. In addition, the firm also holds technical training programmes from time to time.

“Royal Enfield is not a volumetric product. It is special product and we want to sell it differently,” added Sharma.

The next showroom is lined up for Kanpur. It will be opened this December. Besides this, the company has its dealer channels at Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Allahabad, Azamgarh and Benaras.

Royal Enfield plans to expand its network of company showrooms from four to over 16 in the next two years. Its brand stores are at Chennai, Jaipur, Mumbai and Hyderabad.
