| RSP records over 100% capacity utilisation |

Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has achieved a capacity utilisation of more than 100 per cent in its production of hot metal, crude steel and saleable steel in the month of July this year.
The steel plant produced 1.9 lakh tonnes of hot metal which is 112 per cent of its capacity and 1.79 lakh tonnes of crude steel which is 111 per cent of its capacity. In saleable steel, the steel unit recorded a production of 1.64 lakh tonnes which is 116 per cent of its capacity.
In the production of hot rolled (HR) coils, RSP achieved a capacity utilisation of 118.6 per cent.
During the April-July period, RSP posted capacity utilisation of 108 per cent, 107 per cent and 112 per cent in production of hot metal, crude steel and saleable steel respectively. The steel unit clocked a capacity utilisation of 107.7 per cent in production of HR coils during the April-July period. RSP’s consumption rate of coke in July this year was 539 kg per tonne of hot metal which is the lowest in any month of July since its inception.
The coke rate for April-July period was also equally impressive with the steel plant registering a coke rate of 539 kg per tonne of hot metal which is the best ever for any April-July period. The steel plant’s calorie consumption in July this year was 7 giga calories per tonne of crude steel as against 7.14 giga calories in July last year.
