SAIL Chairman S K Roongta has won the 'SCOPE Award for Excellence and Outstanding Contribution' to the public sector management in the individual category, while Coal India Ltd has bagged the Gold Trophy in the institutional category.     

The awards for the year 2007-08 will be conferred either by the President, Vice President or Prime Minister during the Annual Conference of Chief Executives of Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs).

The awards, conceptualised and instituted to recognise the contribution of PSEs and to encourage outstanding persons for their leadership qualities, were announced by SCOPE Director General U D Choubey.     

The jury for the awards was chaired by former Chief Justice of India, Justice P N Bhagwati while International Management Institute had evaluated the entries.
