Samsonite partners with McLaren for high-end travel baggage

Samsonite has entered into a licencing agreement with McLaren for a superior range of travel luggage under the co-branding of McLarenSport and Samsonite Black label.

The collection will be available in India around October and is targeted at the premium segment.

"With McLaren's rich history as a forerunner in Formula One racing, we see a lot of enthusiasts showing keen interest in this high-end line," Samsonite Greater Asia's COO, Subrata Dutta, said in a press release here.

The collection will be distributed by Samsonite through its own stores and also through the most exclusive bags and leather goods shops worldwide, the release said.

The McLaren group comprises a collection of niche, hi-tech companies, each maximising the benefits of the global name and reputation that McLaren has established in the cutting-edge technology sport of Formula I.

Samsonite is a leading player worldwide in superior travel bags, luggage and accessories.

"We are pleased to put our centennial experience as a leader in the travel and business segments at McLaren's disposal. This partnerhsip allows us to draw inputs from the world of Formula I to create a new range of high performance products with an innovative design," Samsonite Corporation's Chief Marketing Officer Beppi Fremder said.
