Scomi awarded the Greentech Environment Excellence Silver Award 2009

Demonstrating the highest level of commitment to environmental management.

Scomi Group (“Scomi”), a Malaysia-based company has been honoured with the prestigious Greentech Environment Excellence Silver Award 2009 by the Greentech Foundation, New Delhi for outstanding achievement in environmental management.  Scomi was declared the winner of the award under the engineering sector for raw materials consumption and products manufactured for buses and coaches which contributed to the protection of the environment and surrounding community.

The award was received by S. Selvaraja Chinnasamy, General Manager, Business Development – India, Scomi International Ltd. from the Honourable Member of Parliament of United Kingdom, Mr. Nick Herbert, accompanied by Greentech President Mr. Kamleshwar Sharan and Mr. Kanagaraja, President of MOSHPA Malaysia at the 10th Global Environment Conference held in Kerala on October 10, 2009.

The Greentech Environment Excellence Awards are now in its 10th year and are presented to companies demonstrating the highest level of commitment to environmental management. The award serves as catalyst to understanding the intrinsic value of environmental management in business excellence and sustainability. The award aims to provide exemplary environmental operations systems and the evidence of their impact to business vitality.

Scomi has joined the illustrious ranks of the winners of the Greentech Awards such as, Reliance Industries Ltd, Larsen & Turbo Ltd., ONGC, Tata Group, Steel Authority of India Ltd, Gujarat State Petroleum Corp. Ltd (GSPC), Jindal Steel Power Ltd, L&T Ltd, GTL Ltd, SAP India Ltd, Asian Peroxide Ltd, LG Electronics India, Southern Coalfields Ltd, Indian Oil, JK Tyre, Star Paper Mills Ltd, NHPC ltd, and NTPC Ltd.
