Sensex weak in early trades

The Sensex opened in the green at the day's high of 17,230 on the back of strong cues from US markets. However, subdued cues from the Asian markets has led the index into the red to a low of 17,111 - down 119 points from the day's high.

The Sensex is now down 45 points at 17,134.

The NSE Nifty is down 11 points at 5,092.

The BSE auto indexgained 1.4% to 7,055. The realty and consumer durable indices have also moved up over 1% each. However, weakness can be seen in the oil & gas sector as the index has dropped to 10,395.

INDEX SHAKERS...

ICICI Bank and Reliance Infrastructure has dropped 1% each to Rs 905 and Rs 1,081, respectively.

HDFC Bank, Grasim, HDFC are the other losers. Index heavy-weight, Reliance has dropped marginally to Rs 2,178.

AND THE MOVERS..

Auto stocks have gained today. Maruti Suzuki has added 2% to Rs 1,589. Mahindra & Mahindra has advanced 1.5% to Rs 1,063. Tata Motors and Hero Honda have moved up 1.2% each.

Realty company, DLF is up 1.5% at Rs 377.

SBI, Bharti Airtel and Wipro have also added around 1% each.

The market breadth is positive. Out of 1,618 stocks traded 973 have advanced while 590 have declined.
