Sensex pares gains; up 40pts

SensexThe Sensex has pared gains and is now at 13,798, up 40 points .

The Sensex is now up 109 points at 13,867

The index after trading in a directionless manner rebounded and a touched a high of 13,897.

The IT stocks continue to trade firm. Infosys and Wipro have surged nearly 4.5% each to Rs 1,7257 and Rs 388, respectively. TCS has gained 2.5%  to Rs 398.

Among the sectoral indices, Realty, Metal, Technology, Consumer Durables and Bankex indices have advanced.

Sterlite and Tata Motors  have rallied 4.5% each to Rs 582 and Rs 284, respectively. 

DLF, Tata Steel and  ICICI Bank  have added nearly 3% each to Rs 289, Rs 374 and Rs 653, respectively.

Sun Pharma, Mahindra & Mahindra, HDFC, Tata Power have declined 1-2% each.

The market breadth is marginally positive -out of 2,546 shares, 1,344 has advanced and 1,108 has declined.
