The Sensex  opened on a quiet note tracking weak global cues. The index touched a high of 17,195 but has however slipped into the negative zone and is now at 17,080, down 46 points.

The NSE Nifty is at 45,064, down 19 points.

The Bankex index has soared 3.5% to 9,855.

Maruti , Tata Power and Wipro on the other hand have dropped 1% each to Rs 1,680, Rs 1,307 and Rs 596, respectively.
