Sensex slips into red; Infosys slips 2%

The Sensex has slipped into the negative zone on the back of sudden bout of profit-taking. The index is now down 38 points at 10,238. Earlier in the day, the index opened 18 points lower at 10,258 on mixed global cues, thereafter, rebounded and touched a high of 10,386.

Grasim has soared 6.5% to Rs 1,311, and Satyam has surged 5.5% to Rs 176.

 
ACC and Mahindra & Mahindra have rallied 4.5% each to Rs 528 and Rs 310, respectively.

HDFC has moved up 3.5% to Rs 1,685. ICICI Bank has added 3% to Rs 515.

Sterlite and HDFC Bank has advanced 2.7% each to Rs 310 and Rs 1,070, respectively.

BHEL and Tata Motors are up 2.3% each at Rs 1,470 and Rs 183, respectively.

Reliance Communications has slumped 5.5% to Rs 249, and Bharti Airtel has plunged 4.5% to Rs 654.

DLF has tumbled nearly 4% to Rs 285. Tata Power has dropped 3.6% to Rs 800.

Reliance Infrastructure has slipped 2.8% to Rs 647. SBI and NTPC have declined 2.5% each to Rs 1,328 and Rs 177, respectively.

Infosys has shed 2% at Rs 1,152, and TCS is down 1.5% at Rs 507.

The market breadth has turned negative - out of 2,478 stocks traded so far, 1,238 have declined, 1,147 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
