The Sensex has started slipping and is now up 194 points at 16,378.

The Nifty is up 48 points at 4,862.

The Sensex is moving sideways and is now up 228 points at 16,411. Earlier in the day it touched a high of 16,435.

ICICI Bank has surged 4.5% to Rs 827. Bharti Airtel has added 3% to Rs 422 on MTN merger talks.

Sterlite and Reliance Communications have added 2.5% each to Rs 767 and Rs 307, respectively. Hindalco has advanced 2.3% to Rs 122.

BHEL, Tata Steel, HDFC Bank, Reliance Infrastructure, Infosys, HDFC, SBI, NTPC and Larsen & Toubro have moved up 1% each.

The market breadth is extremely positive. Out of 2,464 stocks traded 1,728 have advanced while 663 have declined.
