Sensex up 420pts; Reliance Infra gains 8%

The Sensex continues to exhibit sideways movement and has touched a high of 15,561, up 434 points from the previous day's close. The Sensex is now at 15,547, up 420 points.

The BSE Metal and Power index lead the rally, up 4% each at 11,861 and 3,077, respectively.

Reliance Infrastrutures has zoomed 8% to Rs 1,240.

Tata Power and Sterlite have added over 6% each to Rs 1,210 and Rs 693, respectively.

HDFC Bank, Larsen & Toubro and Ranbaxy have gained 5% each at Rs 1,490, Rs 1,654 and Rs 297, respectively.

Hindalco, Tata Steel, NTPC, ONGC, Grasim, Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Motors, Reliance, Reliance Communications, DLF, ACC, Maruti, Jaiprakash Associates and Wipro have advanced 2-5% each.

Infosys, Sun Pharma and TCS are still lagging.

The market breadth is positive, out of 2,351 shares traded, 1,693 have advanced and 605 have declined.
